Hear My Voice

Hear My Voice

Hear My Voice

I stand amongst the crowd and holler out

To be heard

By the many that

Stand before me

My voice is lost

To the clatter and din

I’m surrounded by a sea

Of people, I drown, I’m lost

Forever afloat

Looking for that island

That will support me

Then

One person turns around to face me

To listen intently

To watch my every move

My whisper changes to a shout

Calling to him in the crowd

More turn to face me, as I speak

My words come tumbling out

Sand caresses my feet beneath me

As I look down

My island beneath, all along

I hold my head up high

Once more

And call out to the throng

Steps

Steps

Steps

The steps I take, one foot in front of the other,

Take me closer to our new life,

A new beginning, for you and me,

A lighter time together.

The occasions I’ve missed,

The weekends I’ve worked,

The late evenings and holidays,

The housework still waiting to be done.

They take me a step closer,

To where I belong,

The place I should have been,

All along.

Our future together,

Secure for the rest,

Of a life of creativity,

Enrichment and course.

I do it for us,

I do it for me,

Our new life awaits us,

In the steps that I take.

Waiting

Waiting

Waiting

I resign myself to stop, to begin again

Waiting

I sit on heaven’s steps and wait

Just listening

Waiting

Waiting for the butterfly to be reborn

Transformed again

And follows its lead

Waiting

I wait to begin again

My life transformed

And take off into the open pasture

Waiting

I ready myself once more

Quiet Interlude

Quiet Interlude

Quiet Interlude

I had a quiet interlude,

Of happiness, contentment,

But like a whisper on the wind,

It took off, it was gone.

I tried to grasp it, hold it tight,

But it was taken from me,

Removed, withdrawn.

Now I sit here, restless, mithered, wilted,

My concentration strained.

I clasp my hands together,

In the quiet desperation,

I gained.

Goodbye peace and quiet,

What do you want?

My sanity bespoke,

Thrust to its limits.

Why do you want me?

Why do you need me?

What quieted solace can I find?

I tend your needs unconditionally,

My soul is stretched,

My patience thin,

Please peace find me once more,

While I rest and regain,

My will to gather,

The energy to start again.

Down

Down

Down

No matter how far you fall,

You can only tumble so far,

Before the bottom serves as the prompt,

That it’s time to look up to the light.

Up toward the light,

At the end of the tunnel,

To the light that will guide your way,

To your new bright future that lays in wait.

The journey is long,

The climb is tremendous,

The darkness holds on,

But the light’s strength is great.

It’s calling, it’s true,

Your future lies dormant,

It lies just ahead,

Around the corner and just out of view.

And waiting, just waiting,

For you to arrive,

At the meeting point in time,

Of the positive and new.

So much work is needed,

But your strength will renew,

The distance is far,

To the new beginning that awaits you.

So, although you may stumble,

And fall on your way,

To the top you may stagger,

But climb anyway.

The mountain is worthy,

Of the climb of your life,

The target in sight,

So don’t lose hope yet.

Don’t give up yet,

The test is almost up,

Just keep digging deep within,

For the strength buried down, within.

To find your will,

To persist to the end,

One day you’ll look back,

And say, “Remember when”,

From your position of triumph,

Comfort and renewal,

These days will pass soon,

They’re only for so long.

So keep your faith within,

Hold onto it tight,

The finish line will come soon,

And will end your fight.

A Love Lost

A Love Lost

A Love Lost

What seed is in my tender heart?

What burden shall I bear?

Your tender touch upon my skin

Like moonlight tethered by waters deep

My heart is heavy with regret

That resolve had left me wanting

I threw your need, your want for me

Aside without thinking

Give me a second chance to want

To seek your approval hence

My heart is open, longing, pleading

And needful for your forever hence

It yearns for love to be restored

Come back to me, my split apart

My heart is open, waiting freely

For my answer to my prayers

Be mine forever hearts entwine

For I realise the enemy within

I shall not venture down that path

Of forbidden love’s true sin

The Promised Land

The Promised Land

The Promised Land

Let your veil of welcoming arms engulf me

Take me to where you journey far

To the place I cannot come from

Let sadness hold me dear

For I carry the notion close to me

That my hopelessness has found

An outlet who will accept me

That journey I am bound

For my restless heart surrenders

Their words are lost on me

I’m sorry tearful visitors

A task I could not complete

Life’s great journey held me dear

To suffer untold pain

I surrender to the burden

Of expectations bound to grace

Life take me on my journey

Take me to a world that I have found

To where they cannot touch me

Nor follow in my wake

I tried to do my quota

To keep the balance right

But insincere were my masters

To promise me the hopeful land

I take these notions harshly

I bury my fears within

They shall not know how I suffer

Nor lend me a helping hand

I cannot offer plenty

I cannot offer more

They have but drained me plenty

Please darkness open my door

My thoughts are exhausted deeply

My muscles creak and groan

I have but nothing left to give

May my suffering end today

May the wheel of fortune turn once more

And offer a moment in the light

May opportunity sing its faithful tune

And take me to the promised land

The Wheel

Image

The Wheel

The shutters are down

The air is thin

I search my heart

But I know not where to begin

I cannot settle east

I cannot settle west

I need a break of fortune

To offer me some rest

For where my heart is taking me

My talent can be pursued

But conversation fights me all the way

And persecutes my will

My strength is waning within me now

I fight to keep my way

I know not which direction I should take

To turn, to break away

I run from the wheel that grinds me down

The one that bears on me

I keep my tender straight and true

And head for freedom’s light

The doorbell rang this morning
A princess she came calling
She swaddled me in love and kindness
Those blue eyes looked to me

She asked me for a favour
A cat she did want near her
We took a journey step by step
To find her stripy prize

She climbed up slowly, step by step
To find her destination
Big boots aloft, she climbed up high
Mount Everest we were bound

She neared the top and called ‘pussy cat’
‘Pussy cat where are you?’
Her prey stayed low and hid there too
She didn’t like her guest

Big eyes befell me, green and black
Blue eyes did follow suit
They looked to me to offer hope
That their true dreams wouldn’t elope

I looked upon them quickly now
My glance shot from one to the other
My heart strings pulled from my chest
As sense abandoned me

A brother’s call rang proudly
A brother’s call rang true
The pussy cat hunt stalled fast
And green eyes thanked me too

The shaking did stop quickly
The pursuit abandoned now
Blue eyes took me somewhere new
To chase her a new prize through

Her blonde curls did bound all the way
As the cat got to live another day
Curiosity took her somewhere new
To see some chickens, all bright and new

Oh child of mine, you suffered
In your plight to make it to my side
To walk, to sing, to dance among the flower
To be held so tightly, so loved, so longed for

Lost before your journey’s end
Taken back to the heavens and the stars
My loss breeds mourn for your tender heart
To walk among the souls

I feel you close to me, my tender child
You came to me and beckoned
To love you more, a love so true
I touch your essence longing for more

My heart is missing the piece that is you
That belongs in its tender embrace
My heart goes out searching, lost, withdrawn
And waiting for your grace

My heart holds dear, for the day we meet
On heaven’s planes it shall wait
Listening for your affectionate whisper
Until reunited we will be
